Well now that the invites have gone out lets take a look at who is in. Here we will look at the LMP675 class.

WR returns to the 24 Hours in 2001 with an all new chassis but still Peugeot power. #30 entry has been given an entry while the #31 is listed as a reserve. The team ran tooth and nail with the Multimatic Lola last year before running into problems. Always a crowd favorite since the team is based in Le Mans, and they could surprise if they make it to the finish.

Lola is back at Le Mans represented by the Roock-Nighthawk team #32 from the ALMS. The car powered by the Nissan powerplant surprised lat year with a win under the Multimatic banner. The team has mentioned about installing the new Judd V8 but looks as if it will go with the Nissan powerplant. The team has experienced some problems early this year with the mods. they have done to the B2K/40 chassis allowed by the ACO. They do have one interesting factor and that is Roock is very experienced at Le Mans and if reliabilty can be found this team could be running strong come Sunday afternoon.

MG makes a popular return to La Sarthe with a brand new car designed by Lola. The cars have just hit the testing trail here in late March so everything is pretty much unkknown. The two car operation, #33 and #34, does have Hugh Chamberlain anchoring the team along with a very strong driver lineup so it will be interesting to see what this team shows up with on May 6th at the Pre-Trials.

PILBEAM is represented for the first time at Le Mans by the #35 S+R Rowan Racing Team. The MP84-Nissan has been a popular make in the FIA-SCC and though the car really is not built to the rules that the LMP675 class calls for this might just be one of the cars running come Sunday Afternoon. The entry is a little of a surprise but it does add some variety to the class.

REYNARD is well represented in 2001 in the LMP675 class with Dick Barbour Racing running the #36 and #37 01Q-Judd V8's and the ROC VW team returning with the #38 01Q and their #39 listed as a reserve. Dick Barbour Racing has a checkered history at Le Mans and the team honestly believes they can be competitive for overall honors over the long haul. The cars will use the new V8 powerplant from Judd and expect to be able to run some 20-25 minutes farther on fuel than the LMP900 cars. DBR brings and extremely strong line-up this year so like always they will need to be watched. The French ROC team returns with VW support again this year and though they only have one car guaranteed for the race, the team proved last year that their mount is extremely competitive. Look for VW along with the Barbour and MG cars to set the pace in LMP675 and possibly surprise overall.
