CHRYSLER TO START FROM THIRD ROW
Chrysler Team ORECA will start from the third row of the grid for this year's Le Mans 24 hours after the team concentrated on race set-up during the final four hours of qualifying on Thursday.
Olivier Beretta's time of three minutes 36.155 seconds in the Chrysler LMP that he shares with Karl Wendlinger and Pedro Lamy was the fastest of the three cars, though the drivers were forced to sit out much of the second session due to an electrical problem. The car was fitted with the race engine for the final evening of qualifying and the drivers were advised not to go for a time improvement.
The second car of Yannick Dalmas, Stephane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny will start from 11th position overall with the three drivers happy with their car for the 24 hour race. The team adjusted back from a wet set-up in anticipation of rain to a dry one for the final night session. Ni Amorim, Seiji Ara and Masahiko Kondo will line up 16th on the grid after also having an engine changed for the race.
"This is just one more day, the most important ones to us are on Saturday and Sunday," said ORECA Director Hugues de Chaunac. "For the moment we are satisfied with our cars, even if we had a small electrical problem on the number 16 car today. The good thing that we have seen is that the drivers are working very well together and we have a good car for the race."
