Grand-Am Finale at Daytona
November 1-3, 2001

Spencer Pumpelly, Winning Driver at Trois-Rivières, Second Place at Bully Hill Vineyards 250
ZIP/Pumpelly Racing #34 Porsche GT3 R
"Having been a while (since we last raced) isn't what concerns me. It's that this is a new track to us. The last time we ran here was the Daytona 24, and we had just gotten the car. We are comfortable on how the car behaves on a flat track, but here it's totally different, so we are a little off the pace."

Steve Ivankovich, Second Place at Bully Hill Vineyards 250
ZIP/Pumpelly Racing #34 Porsche GT3 R
"It feels great to be in the car. Definitely a little bit of rust. It feels good to be back in Daytona. We are going to see what the car gives us and see what happens."

Clint Field, Will Start His Team's New Lola in Tonight's Race
Intersport Racing #37 Judd Lola
"Right now (the new car) is not as good as we would hope, but I think mostly the tires we ran on were 40-laps-old tires. So, we are going to put on some new tires for the next session and see if that cures it. If not, we are just going to have to work really hard before the race to get it where we want it."
"I am excited about doing my first opening stint, but only if it doesn't rain. I don't like the rain. This should be my first start, except for Lime Rock, but that was different. This is my first real start. It will be fun."

Dennis Aase, Team Manager/Co-Owner of New V8-Powered BMW M3
AASCO/Boduck Racing #50 BMW M3
"We missed a session yesterday because of a silly little thing in regard to the build of the car. I think we are about as ready as can be. We are trying to choose the right tires. This is a whole new deal for us, because we are kind of Porsche guys in the past. So now with the motor upfront, we are putting a little pressure on the wheels that we haven't considered before. We just hope we made the right choices on these things for safety."
"It's different. It's still the same rush, but its just a little bit different. Even though the car has a V8 motor and larger capacity, we are running about the same as we did before with the Porsche at this point. So at least we haven't gone backwards with it."

Chris Bingham, Hoping to Clinch GTS Driver Championship Tonight
Park Place Racing/Fordahl Motorsports #5 Saleen S7R
"I am really excited about tonight. We are going to see how it works. Hopefully the rain will stay away. If it doesn't, we are going to take it pretty easy. I guess I have to do one full lap, so I'm excited about it. It should be good. I've been waiting for this for a while."
"I'm excited about the 2002 schedule. I haven't looked too closely at it. I saw it last night briefly. We haven't put it on the calendar yet and see how it works out, but it looks exciting."

Darren Law, Hoping to Clinch GT Driver Championship Tonight
G&W Motorsports #81 Porsche GT3 R
"Actually, I just want to get this whole thing started and get it done. We have a pretty good shot at it, barring anything really wild going on, we should be fine. But we also have a lot of other stuff going on. We also have team owner points. We have to try and keep my teammate Matt (Drendel) second in points. So there are a lot of other issues going on other than me getting my couple of laps in there.:

Andy Lally, Hoping to Clinch SRPII Driver Championship Tonight
Archangel Motorsport Services #21 Nissan Lola
"I'm definitely a little excited. It's something we have been working towards - a goal we have been working towards all year. I'm happy for the crew - Mike, Brian, Tucker, Jay - all the guys that have been working on both cars so hard. It's a big accomplishment for myself. It's very satisfying. If we lock it up tonight, we'll take tonight to savor it. And then tomorrow morning I'll be working on what to do for next year."
